SHOPPING FOR A NEW INSTRUMENT
It's been five years since she began,
To honk away in sixth grade band,
She plays quite well, this all agree,
She'll be a standout, wait and see,
Now she needs a fine horn that's new,
Not that old thing loaned by Aunt Sue,
And so on odyssey they went,
To buy her a new instrument.
They first went to a local store,
They'd been there many times before,
For bits and pieces, cloths and strings,
For small repairs and little things.
The store had nothing there on site,
An order would take a fortnight,
The price he quoted sounded high,
At least they hoped so, and said "'bye".
They decided to look around,
And check with those of judgment sound,
So they might find out what was true,
They went to well trained folks who knew,
Her band teacher said, "Go right on,
And do what I did, buy a Conn."
Her private teacher disagree,
"A Bach Selmer is what you need."
A local pro declared "No way!
A Besson beats those any day!
But if you have to shop for price,
An E.M.Winston might be nice.
And if your money's really tight,
Try an Amati, they're all right."
They struggled on and looked at King,
And Holton, Getzen and Blessing,
Then Yamaha, Jupiter too,
They just did not know what to do!
Could not see trees, for all the forest.
So they gave up. She joined the chorus!
??'!
